When a mother thinks of weaning is most of that time dreading that time. They think they will become kitchen slave, that they will rely on pouches or shelf made food. Instead it's an important time for the baby to learn about the wonders of foods and the various textured.
Let's start saying that there are studies showing that the best time for babies to start food is 6 to 8  months, since their guts are not developmentally ready.

Here are few first foods tips:

Make meal time fun!

Let them discover with textures, different foods and utensils

Start with fruits and veggies, then introduce some proteins

Avoid gluten and dairy till 1 years old, to make their stomach ready to digest these harder foods for their system.

I based by self on the book of Mila's meal, baby led weaning and some puree foods.
