Popcorn is one of Americans’ favorite foods, but unless you make your own from organic kernel, it most likely is from GMO corn and produced with additives. If you grab the popcorn in a bag that you shove in the microwave and eat then you should know that is one of most processed foods you can find. An alternative this processed snack, is using chickpeas for a filling and crunchy taste.
1 can of organic and BPA free chickpeas (Eden is my favorite one) or 8oz of dried chickpeas soaked over night with kombu and rinses
1 tablespoon organic turmeric
1 teaspoon Himalayan salt
1 tablespoon melted coconut oil
Open the can and rinse well the chickpeas or used the dried ones. Place them in a bowl where you will add the salt, turmeric and softened coconut oil. Mix well and then place them in a oven pan over parchment paper at 400F and cook for 30-40 minutes, until they look nice and crispy.
Serve warm, these will last maximum 2 days until they get too hard.
