Helpful Third Trimester Tips

You are at the last stretch. At this point, you might feel very tired, hungry and feel the need to pee all the time. Here are few last things to know about this trimester:

Medical: Your last test to do at this point if it's all normal will be the B strep test. Which will be a vaginal and rectal swab to see if you have this bacteria. If so you will need to get antibiotic during your labor. Except this all you'll do hoping on a non-risk pregnancy will be weekly screenings until labor to check the fetus size, fluids, and heart beat.

Getting ready: You might feel overwhelmed and all you want to do is clean the house, finish the nursery or anything baby related. I was ordering things over and over, writing my birth plan, preparing my hospital bag and deciding the music for labor. If you feel like this is totally normal, and just go with the flow. After with the baby might be a little tricky and the house might not be as tidy as you wish.

Hospital bag: I feel I had little extra things but not as much. Here is my advice, the hospital probably will give you many useful things such as mesh underwear  (Lenox Hill in NYC as amazing and super comfortable briefs), maternity pads, cooling pads (very useful for a vaginal birth), hemorrhoids pads and more. What you might want to bring is a nightgowns (you will sweat a lot) and robe, a comfortable change for going home (I had a shirt and sweatpants), phone chargers, portable music box, toiletries (deodorant, toothbrush and toothpaste, face cream and shower essential if you want to shower at the hospital), large towel if you feel you need to rinse off, and hair dryer. Computer if you want to see a movie and an easy book that perhaps you or whoever is with you can read to you. Finally, a set for the baby to come home: onesie, hat, diapers (we had Bambo Nature) socks and blanket That would be all.

Perineal massage: This is extremely important, and I did it and got no tear, granted I had a small baby but still it has proven from women to be extremely effective. Mama Natural has the best description of how to do it and when to do it.

Get informed: Now that you are towards the end inform yourself at the hospital tour the rules, write your birth plan and show it to the nurses in advance, take if you want any hospital courses or outside birth courses. Unfortunately, I had no time for this since our little one came out much earlier than expected.

I hope this is helpful and comment for any other questions you might have.
